15 LPA in-hand salary: about INR 1,00,300 a month.
On a CTC of INR 15,00,000 a year you take home about INR 1,00,300 a month under the new tax regime and INR 91,019 under the old regime.
Past the rebate, and the closest the old regime comes to catching up.
New regime taxable income is INR 12,98,925, INR 98,925 over the INR 12 lakh limit. Marginal relief only caps the tax at the income over the limit, and here the INR 74,839 of slab tax is already less than that, so all of it is due: INR 77,833 a year with cess, about INR 6,486 a month.
This is the first of these levels where the old regime can come out ahead, and it needs less here than at any higher level on the list: about INR 4,20,000 more in deductions than your PF and professional tax, from a rent allowance exemption, section 123 investments beyond your PF, health insurance or home loan interest. At 25 LPA it would need about INR 6,17,000, and at 30 LPA about INR 6,48,000.
The old regime's own taxable income is INR 12,31,425, past the INR 10 lakh line, so part of it is taxed at 30%: INR 1,89,205 a year before any of those deductions.
From a 15 LPA CTC to your bank account.
Basic pay at 50% of CTC, PF at 12% of full basic for you and your employer, gratuity at 4.81% of basic inside the CTC, the Maharashtra rate of professional tax for men, no variable pay and no old regime deductions beyond PF and professional tax.
