Salary negotiation email builder
Turn an offer, a specific request and your supporting evidence into an email you can edit. Use it to open a discussion or confirm the points you already discussed.
A useful starting point.
Add your details, or try the example. You can edit, copy and download the result here.
What should I compare?
Separate base pay, variable pay, equity and benefits. Use the same currency and time period when comparing amounts. The builder uses your inputs; it does not calculate a market salary or recommend an amount.
Should I negotiate by email?
A conversation may be more useful for a nuanced request. Email can open that discussion or record the points afterward. Do not describe a request as agreed until the employer confirms it.
What if the salary cannot change?
Decide which other terms matter to you, such as the start date or review schedule, and ask whether there is flexibility. The employer may decline; this template does not guarantee an increase.
