Free LinkedIn profile checker
Use the free LinkedIn profile checker to review your headline and About section for focus, contribution, outcomes and clarity.
Your result
What the LinkedIn profile checker reads.
It reads two parts of your profile, the headline and the About section, and asks what a recruiter skimming them would want to know: what you do, what you did, what changed, and whether it is easy to follow.
The four ratings
- Headline focus. Whether the headline names a type of work and a specialism, rather than a broad job title or a list of traits.
- About specificity. Whether the About describes something you did on a named task, rather than a responsibility or a description of yourself.
- About outcome. Whether it says what changed because of that work, rather than calling the work a success.
- About clarity. Whether a reader can follow the main point. An About that is easy to read but describes no task you did stops at 2.
The code checks
- The headline's length, and each filler word in it, such as "Hardworking" or "Seeking".
- Every phrase from the checker's cliché list in the headline and About, such as "team player" or "quick learner".
- The About's length against a 60 to 300 word review range. That range is this checker's guide, not a LinkedIn rule.
How to read your result.
Each rating is a level from 0 to 3
Every dimension has four written levels, and the score says which one your text reached. 2 or more shows "Evidence shown", 1 to 1.9 "Make it clearer" and below 1 "Add evidence".
A rating below 2 says what is missing
It names what the grader found at that level, then what to add. When one of your sentences is the place to start, it quotes that sentence.
No score is better than a guess
"Needs a closer read" means the grader's answer was too spread to trust, so it gives no score. "Not assessed" means there is no usable grade for that dimension, for example when you chose the code checks only.
Code checks name the exact words
They run on your text in this tab and quote what they found, such as each cliché, so you can change those words directly.
What does the LinkedIn profile checker check?
Your headline and About section. It rates headline focus, About specificity, About outcome and About clarity from 0 to 3, and its code checks name filler words and clichés. It does not read your experience, skills or other sections.
What is a good score?
2 or more on a dimension means the text shows what that level asks for, such as an action you took on a named task. A rating below 2 tells you what is missing and what to add.
Why does my About get only 2 for clarity?
A clear About still stops at 2 when it describes no task you did. Add one sentence about something you did and how you did it, and the clarity rating can go higher.
Can I upload my LinkedIn profile instead of pasting it?
Yes. Upload the text PDF that LinkedIn exports, up to 2 MiB and 12 pages, and the checker fills in the headline and About. You can also paste them.
Will a higher score help recruiters find my profile?
Not directly. The checker rates how your headline and About are written. It does not measure LinkedIn search ranking, connections or profile views.
Does it work in other languages?
The detailed grade reads English. Choose another language and you get the code checks only.
