Layout, tables, text stuck inside images, where your contact details sit, bullet characters, file type, section headings, whether every role has a title and dates, whether those dates make sense, and how much of the role vocabulary you carry. Facts are pulled out of the file and the points are added up. Run the same file twice and you get the same number twice.

What your bullets claim and whether they prove it, whether your summary earns the space it takes, which of your strengths a recruiter would actually see, and the five to seven things doing the most damage. Every point has to name something real in your file: an employer, a section, a line it is reacting to. Advice that would fit any resume is treated as a failure of the review.

Whether you will get the interview

A high parse score means software can read you properly. That is a floor, not a prediction. The human who reads you next is a separate problem, and the written review is what speaks to that.

What one specific company's system does

There is no single applicant tracking system to test against, and any tool claiming to simulate a named one is guessing. What is checkable is the behaviour every parser shares, which is what gets scored.

What it genuinely cannot see

A Word or text upload has no visible page, so the layout checks cannot be observed. Rather than assuming the worst or the best, those checks are marked not assessed and the score is recalculated over what was actually observable.

Whether a claim on your resume is true

Nothing here verifies your employment. What it does refuse to do is invent: it will not add a skill, a metric or a job you did not put there, and the arithmetic parts are computed rather than asserted.

Is this resume checker free?

Yes, completely, and there is no second paid version of it. You are not shown a score and then asked to pay for the reasons behind it. Everything the checker found is on the screen.

Do I need to sign up to check my resume?

No. Upload the file and the check runs. An email is only needed if you want the result kept, and even then there is no password step.

How is this different from an ATS checker?

An ATS checker is the parse pass on its own, and we publish that rubric in full on the ATS resume checker page. This page runs it together with the reading pass, so you see both what a parser mishandles and what a person would think.

Why did my score change after I edited my resume?

The parse score changes only when the facts change: a layout, a heading, a missing date, the keywords you carry. It never drifts on its own, which is the point of computing it rather than asking a model for a number.

Can it check a resume for a specific job?

The keyword pass is measured against what your target role expects rather than a generic word list. Checking against one particular job description, line by line, is the tailoring tool rather than this one.
