How to write a Naukri profile headline.
A Naukri resume headline is one line of up to 250 characters, and it works hardest when it reads in this order: your role, your years or your qualification, the three or four skills you most want to be found for, and your city. Divide those with commas or pipes, because each divided term is something a recruiter’s search can match on its own. Write it in sentence case, name real tools rather than adjectives, and end it without a full stop. What the checker looks at, and what it cannot see.
Five deterministic rules. Each one says what it inspected, because a checker that will not show its evidence is a horoscope. None of them reads meaning: whether your headline is TRUE, and whether the skills in it are the ones the jobs you want ask for, are questions this page does not answer.
The 250-character limit
The field stops at 250 characters, so anything past that is simply not saved — and a headline that uses only a third of the space is a set of search terms you chose not to claim. The counter above moves as you type.
Capitals
A headline in block capitals is slower to read and looks unlike the rest of the profile. The check only fires when at least seven letters in ten are capitals, so an acronym-heavy line like "SAP FICO, SQL, MS Excel" passes.
Filler phrases
"Hard working", "team player", "seeking a challenging position in a reputed organisation" — a fixed list of the phrases that appear on so many profiles that they distinguish nobody. Each one found is named, so you can disagree with any of them.
Role and skills
Two things a recruiter's search matches on: a job title, and separate terms. The check looks for a role word from a short literal list, and counts how many terms your commas, pipes and slashes divide the line into. A run-on phrase is one term however long it is.
Trailing punctuation
A headline is a label rather than a sentence, so it needs no full stop — and a dangling pipe or comma at the end is almost always the ghost of a term that was deleted after it.

Most of what goes wrong in this field is not bad writing. It is the wrong thing written in the right box.
It is not your profile summary
A Naukri profile carries both. The resume headline is the one line that shows under your name in a recruiter's result list; the profile summary is the paragraph they read after they open you. Writing the paragraph into the headline field wastes the line that decides whether they open you at all.
It is not your resume's title
The headline lives on the job-board profile, not in the document you attach. They should agree — a headline claiming skills the resume never mentions is the mismatch a recruiter notices first — but they are two fields on two surfaces and only one of them is searched.
It is not an objective statement
"Seeking a challenging role in a reputed organisation" says what you want. The headline is read by someone deciding whether you are worth opening, so it has to say what you are and what you can do. Where you want to work belongs in it as a place and a role, not as an ambition.
A headline cannot fix the resume it points at.
The line gets you opened. What a recruiter reads next is the file — and on a job board that file is also parsed into a database, which is a different bar from being readable.
