What changes between an Indian resume and a resume for Malaysia
Resume and CV are used interchangeably and neither is a signal of anything.
A photograph is still normal on a Malaysian resume, and its absence is not held against you. Including a plain professional one is the local convention rather than a risk.
Malaysian resumes carry more personal detail than Western ones — nationality and expected salary are commonly included. Leave your IC and passport numbers off.

The rules that only apply in Malaysia
- Expected salary is frequently a required field in Malaysian applications. Giving a researched range rather than "negotiable" keeps you in the process; "negotiable" is often read as no answer at all.
- Language ability — Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Tamil — is a genuine differentiator for local-facing roles and deserves its own line.
- The global shared-service and business-process centres in Kuala Lumpur and Penang hire heavily from India, and naming the process you actually ran — order-to-cash, record-to-report, procure-to-pay — does more than naming the employer who ran it.
