8 LPA in-hand salary: about INR 56,855 a month.
On a CTC of INR 8,00,000 a year you take home about INR 56,855 a month under the new tax regime and INR 53,479 under the old regime.
Even a full section 123 leaves the old regime charging tax, while the new regime charges none.
Old regime taxable income at 8 LPA is INR 6,32,260, INR 1,32,260 over the INR 5 lakh line below which its rebate cancels the tax. Your own PF already counts INR 48,000 towards the INR 1.5 lakh section 123 limit, so PPF, ELSS, life insurance or tuition fees can take off at most another INR 1,02,000.
That still leaves taxable income INR 30,260 over the line, and with no marginal relief the old regime would charge INR 19,294 with cess. It needs another INR 30,260 of deductions, such as a rent allowance exemption or health insurance, just to reach zero tax and draw level with the new regime. From a CTC of about 7.67 LPA, a full section 123 is no longer enough on its own.
The new regime asks for none of that. Its taxable income is INR 6,57,760, its INR 12,888 of slab tax is cancelled, and INR 56,855 a month reaches your account, against INR 53,479 under the old regime with no extra deductions.
From a 8 LPA CTC to your bank account.
Basic pay at 50% of CTC, PF at 12% of full basic for you and your employer, gratuity at 4.81% of basic inside the CTC, the Maharashtra rate of professional tax for men, no variable pay and no old regime deductions beyond PF and professional tax.
