Biotechnology Fresher Resume: Projects, Lab Skills and Format

Turn your project into a small research story

Give the project a descriptive title, then explain the question, your contribution and the result you could defend. A fermentation exercise might compare growth measurements across conditions and document repeated observations. Include the controls or checks that made the comparison meaningful, along with a limitation such as a small dataset. Avoid presenting a classroom exercise as a validated industrial process. If your team shared the experiment, make your own contribution clear instead of claiming the whole project independently.

Describe practical skills at the right level

A list containing PCR, cell culture, chromatography and bioinformatics is not useful if it mixes a demonstration you watched with methods you performed repeatedly. Group skills by practical experience, supervised exposure and analysis where needed. Use terms such as supervised practical or coursework when accurate. You do not need to include every technique from the syllabus. Two or three well-supported methods are a stronger starting point than a large skills block that you cannot discuss in an interview.

Give placements clear dates and boundaries

Name an internship or training placement as such. Record the month range, laboratory context and responsibilities. Sample labelling, recording observations, preparing a worksheet and checking inventory are reasonable junior contributions when genuinely performed. Do not claim diagnostic responsibility, clinical interpretation or approval of a research protocol because you supported a laboratory. Follow the vacancy’s stated training and supervision requirements.
