Keep your student status visible
A law student resume should make your degree, expected graduation date and relevant experience easy to understand. The fictional sample is a US law student application, not an attorney resume or a law school admissions resume. Use your exact degree and study stage. If you are applying internationally, explain unfamiliar qualification names clearly instead of assuming that another country’s reader will understand your programme or that the qualification automatically permits practice there.
Give education useful detail without embellishment
Include genuine honours, journal activity, relevant coursework or competitions when they strengthen the application. Follow your institution’s rules for presenting grades and rank. Do not estimate a class rank from partial information or suggest membership in a journal you only submitted work to. A short, accurate education section is stronger than a crowded list of activities with unclear involvement. Keep dates and qualification wording consistent with your transcript and application form.
Describe supervised legal work precisely
Use verbs that show your contribution: researched, drafted for review, checked, organised or summarised. A student who prepared a memorandum under supervision should not claim to have independently advised a client or represented a party. The sample makes supervision explicit. Explain the broad legal issue or work product where disclosure is allowed, but leave out client identifiers, confidential facts and details that could reveal a matter through combination.
