Your interior designer resume should explain the work behind the visuals. State the kinds of spaces you have worked on, your stage of involvement and the tools used to produce deliverables. The fictional candidate has residential experience with a small workplace portfolio. If your work is hospitality, retail or exhibition design, make that focus clear. A portfolio can show visual judgement; the resume should help a reader understand responsibility, collaboration and delivery.
Describe a project beyond its appearance
Useful project details include floor area, brief, constraints, design stage and your contribution. Explain whether you developed the concept, prepared drawings, coordinated procurement or supported site delivery. A polished render does not prove that a project was built. Label concept work, student work and completed projects accurately. When you worked under a senior designer, name your scope without borrowing their entire role or presenting a team commission as a solo achievement.
Show coordination and practical judgement
Design roles often involve choices that are less photogenic than the final space. Material schedules, drawing revisions, supplier questions and snag lists can provide strong evidence of dependable work. The sample shows how approvals and substitutions were tracked. In your own bullets, describe a specific coordination problem and what you did about it. Do not claim that you certified structural, electrical or other specialist work when you only coordinated information from the responsible professional.
