Summary
Java backend developer building and maintaining APIs with Spring Boot and SQL. Progressed from supervised fixes and regression checks to implementing service changes, investigating query performance and preparing releases.
Experience
Java Backend Developer · Example Harbour Software
2024-07 – PresentBengaluru, India- Implemented Spring Boot order-status endpoints backed by PostgreSQL, validating allowed status transitions and returning consistent errors to the frontend.
- Added 34 regression tests around status transitions and corrected two defects identified during the release review.
- Investigated slow SQL calls with execution plans; reduced one test-case response time from 820 ms to 310 ms using the same dataset and test environment.
- Prepared release notes and a rollback checklist with the team lead, then monitored the agreed checks after deployment.
- Added request identifiers to structured logs and traced a failed update across the API and database before preparing a regression fix.
Junior Java Developer · Example Harbour Software
2023-07 – 2024-06Bengaluru, India- Fixed request-validation and error-message defects with code review from a senior developer.
- Extended existing JUnit tests and ran release smoke checks using the team’s documented checklist.

Skills
- Backend:
- Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL
- Quality and delivery:
- JUnit, Regression testing, Git reviews, Production issue investigation
- Tools used:
- PostgreSQL, Maven, Testcontainers, Structured logging
Projects
Order workflow service, personal demonstration
- Built a Java and Spring Boot service with role-based order updates and database transactions for stock reservations.
- Used JUnit and Testcontainers to check invalid transitions, concurrent reservations and rollback after a failed write.
Describe the service behaviour you changed
The order-status example names the endpoint’s purpose, request validation and error responses. Those details let a reader understand the work without access to the code. Replace “developed microservices” with one useful change and its technical constraints.
Explain the regression coverage
The sample identifies 34 tests around order-status transitions and two defects found during review. The count describes coverage added, not the percentage of every defect prevented. Be ready to explain a transition and the failure a test protects against.
Give the timing a workload
The 820 ms to 310 ms comparison covers one test case on the same dataset and environment. State what you measured and changed. Do not present one endpoint or query improvement as the response time of the entire production system.
Show how ownership increased
The junior role covers small fixes, existing test cases and release checks with a mentor. The later role adds API changes, query investigation and release preparation. This gives the progression more substance than repeating the same duties under a new title.
