Python Developer · Example Maple Data Services
2024-03 – PresentManchester, United Kingdom- Built a FastAPI catalogue service backed by PostgreSQL, adding validated query filters, pagination and documented error responses for an internal buying tool.

- Added unit tests for missing fields, duplicate records and invalid dates using synthetic fixtures.
- Documented restart steps and ownership for the weekly job; reduced routine preparation time from 90 to 25 minutes in the team trial.
- Added structured job logs and a failed-file folder so support colleagues could identify the affected input and rerun a corrected file.

Explain the input, transformation and output
A scripting bullet becomes concrete when the reader knows what entered the process, what you changed and what came out. The sample replaces a weekly CSV merge with a repeatable job that checks columns and reports exceptions. That gives the reader a useful picture without exposing business records. A script that worked once on your laptop is different from a scheduled job that other people rely on; state the correct context.
Show the failure cases you handled
Missing fields, duplicate records and invalid dates are specific testing examples. Mention the checks you wrote and the behaviour they protect. The sample identifies both the testing framework and the failure cases it checks. Do not claim broad test coverage solely because you wrote a few tests, and do not turn a tool name into a quality guarantee.
Keep performance and time savings honest
The preparation-time comparison in the document is fictional and limited to a team trial. For your own work, record how a before-and-after measurement was obtained. Explain whether the improvement applied to one task, a batch or a production workload. You can write a strong bullet about removing a manual step even when no reliable percentage is available. Precision is more useful than an impressive number that you cannot defend.
